Dr. Ariana Dichiara

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a doctorate in school and clinical psychology and specialize in using evidence-based therapies that address a range of concerns. I have special expertise in treating issues such as trauma, OCD, perfectionism (OCPD) and well as with comorbid mental and physical health conditions. I received a master’s in psychology from Columbia University and my doctoral degree at Kean University.  In addition to practicum placements at sites such as the Center for Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy and Brooklyn College Personal Counseling Center, I also completed my predoctoral internship at Hudson Valley VA Healthcare System. Thereafter, I did my postdoctoral fellowship at the James J. Peters VA’s Mental Illness Research Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC)/National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans (NCHAV).

During my time at these sites, I gained experience working with clients with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, substance misuse, emotion regulation, grief, interpersonal difficulties and more. I have considerable experience working with a broad range of treatment modalities such as ACT, DBT, CPT, CBT, MI, ERP, MBT, as well as other evidence-based practices. In addition to my clinical work, I publish and engage in research which aims to better understand and improve client outcomes in treatment through addressing various issues including understanding what factors impact client trajectories and outcomes; barriers to treatment; developing novel psychotherapeutic treatment interventions; and public health interventions to mental health conditions. I use my expertise in research to help inform my practice, so that clients can get the most up-to-date treatments and techniques and the best care possible.
