Some of the things I help people with include
Anxiety
Whether you have anxiety about many things—also know as Generalized Anxiety Disorder— or anxiety about specific things (such as social interactions, work, etc.) I work with clients to determine the root of their anxiety and find ways to navigate life with anxiety. Anxiety doesn’t have to hold you back!
Depression
Depression affects millions of Americans, and often can be a chronic or recurrent condition. Together we can address your depression slowly, focusing on the symptoms that most impact your functioning, and move closer to the version of yourself that you want to be.
Chronic Pain and Illness
Navigating chronic pain and illness can be extremely difficult. Finding a diagnosis, communicating with multiple medical providers, advocating for yourself, finding appropriate and affordable treatment can be a full-time job in and of itself. Add on to that the concerns of daily life, and chronic pain and illness can feel overwhelming. I focus on helping clients advocate for themselves and find manageable ways to move closer to their personal growth and health goals using evidence-based practices.
Trauma
Through evidence-based practices such as CPT and PE, I work with clients to address a range of traumatic experiences, including: childhood trauma, PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma and everything in between. Drawing heavily from meaning-centered work, I help clients empower themselves and address the things that keep them “stuck” in their trauma.
Perfectionism
Although many might feel that perfectionism is far from a problem, for some, it can interfere with major domains of life, including: work/school, relationships, leisure, and much more. When perfectionism gets in the way of life, it may be time to consider working on that. Together, we can work on flexibility and not let perfectionism stand in the way of the things that matter to you.
Grief and Loss
Dealing with grief and loss is a process, and one with many ebbs and flows. Grief and loss may look different to different people, and can manifest in any number of different ways. If you feel that a loss is impacting you and that you may benefit from processing it in the therapeutic context; we can work together to find meaning and move towards a meaningful life.
Self-Esteem
How we view ourselves can dictate how we navigate many different domains of our life. When you feel like your self-esteem is getting in the way of flourishing, it may be time to work on it together.
Insomnia
A poor night’s sleep can alter our productivity, mood, and overall health. Regular issues with sleep and insomnia can make it hard to move towards your values and goals. Together, we can address your sleep with evidence-based psychotherapy targeted to improve the quality of your sleep.
Intimacy
Relationships are hard, and intimacy—especially after upsetting and traumatic experiences— can be difficult. If you feel as though intimacy has been an issue for you, working on it in therapy can help you gain the intimacy and sense of self that you want.
Phobias
The root of all phobias are adaptive— they are mechanisms intended to help our ancestors survive. However, when a phobia starts to impact our daily life, it is time to consider working on it. Together, through gradual exposure therapy, we can help you lead a life where your phobia does not hold you back.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can result in intrusive thoughts or compulsions which can impair daily life. Typically these thoughts or compulsions revolve around particular themes, which can be effectively targeted through exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy.
Work-Related Issues
As a major facet of our lives, work can take a huge toll on our well-being. Whether it’s a job you have, a job you want to have, or a job you don’t have, or work environment issues; we can work together to understand how it is impacting you and find useful ways of navigating it. Together, we can find a balance that feels useful for you.
How I Can Help
I use an evidence-based approach to treating some of the things that you feel are getting in the way of you leading a life consistent with your values and goals. This means that I use the latest research to inform what we do together. As a team, in a collaborative manner, we determine your treatment goals and systematically address them. Together, we can get you closer to where you want to be.
